Tóm tắt/ chú giải | : | R.S. Sugirtharajah takes up the theory of postcolonialism as a way of looking at biblical interpretative practices in the Asian context. Postcolonialism is a discourse of resistance that tries to `write back` and work against colonial assumptions and ideologies. Long established in cultural studies, this is the first work to apply postcolonial theory to biblical interpretation. Sugirtharajah provides examples of how Asian Christians have used both indigenous and western critical methods to liberate the texts, and highlights the liberating potential of other sacred texts of Asia to meet the pressing problems of the continent. |
